Eddie Linehan on 2024 Sucesses “Obviously, Hotazhell was the highlight winning the G1 Futurity Stakes, as well as winning a Group 2 and 3 on the way there. Love Talk was a great flag bearer all summer, including winning the €100k Fillies’ Final in Goodwood. Majestic Wave performed well in Navan and looks like a promising sprinter for 2025.

WHO WE ARE

 

Dan O’Meara

Growing up just a stones throw from Lackendarra Stables in Mallow, Co. Cork, Dan has a degree in Commerce from University College Cork. and joined Linehan Bloodstock in 2020.

Prior to this, Dan spent time working for Kildangan Stud in Ireland, Newsells Park Stud in England and Segenhoe Stud in Australia. His first year pin-hooking yearlings to sell at the breeze up sales, resulted in a 140% increase on his initial investment.

Lot 92 – Bay Filly (Acclamation – Heroic Star, by Sea The Stars)

A well-made, first-crop filly by Acclamation, one of the most reliable sires of speed and precocity in Europe, whose influence continues to be felt through top-level progeny like Dark Angel, Equiano, and Mehmas. His stock are consistently popular at the breeze-ups and on the track.

The dam, Heroic Star (IRE), was placed three times at two and three in France and is by none other than Sea The Stars, one of the world’s leading sires. This is her first foal and she also has a yearling colt by Starman.

The second dam, Heroic Heart (FR), won twice in France and is already the dam of a winner in Escarpment (IRE), who won at four in 2024.

This filly descends from one of the most decorated families in the Stud Book. The third dam, Because (IRE), is an own sister to three outstanding racemares:
• Yesterday (IRE) – Winner of the Irish 1,000 Guineas (Gr.1) and placed in the Oaks (Gr.1) and Prix de l’Opéra (Gr.1).
• Quarter Moon (IRE) – Champion two-year-old filly in Ireland, winner of the Moyglare Stud Stakes (Gr.1) and placed in the Irish Oaks and Irish 1,000 Guineas.
• All My Loving (IRE) – Multiple Classic-placed, including third in the Oaks and Irish Oaks.

This is also the immediate family of Frankel (Gr.1 winner and world champion), Eminent (Gr.2 winner), Thomas Chippendale (Gr.2 winner), and recent Group 3 winner Midnight Mile (IRE).

A beautifully bred first produce by Wootton Bassett, one of Europe’s leading sires whose progeny include Almanzor, Audarya, and Bucanero Fuerte. His stock have consistently fetched top prices at the breeze-ups, and this filly looks the type to continue that trend. The dam, Pretty Fair (IRE), was a winner at three and is a full-sister to Ambition (GB), winner of the Group 2 Prix Corrida and placed multiple times at Group 1 level in France, including in the Prix de l’Opera and Prix Jean Romanet. The second dam is none other than Talent (GB), the brilliant winner of the Oaks at Epsom (Gr.1) and runner-up in the St Leger (Gr.1). She was also placed in the British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes (Gr.1) and the Lancashire Oaks (Gr.2), and has produced four winners to date. This is an exceptional Classic family, stacked with black-type and middle-distance performers. A sharp, athletic first foal by Havana Grey, one of the most sought-after young sires in Europe, whose stock have proven fast, forward and hugely popular at the sales. Sire of multiple Group winners including Vandeek (Gr.1 Prix Morny, Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes) and Elite Status (Gr.3 winner), Havana Grey’s progeny have been highly effective at two and three. The dam, Mandaza (FR), is an unraced daughter of Zoffany and hails from one of the deepest Classic families in the stud book. She is out of Mandalaya (USA), who produced Mandalay (FR), a winner and placed from limited starts in France. The third dam is the exceptional Mandesha (FR), Champion Older Mare in Europe (2007) and winner of three Group 1s in France — the Prix Vermeille, Prix d’Astarté and Prix de l’Opéra — as well as the Prix Corrida (Gr.2) and multiple placings at the highest level. A strong, scopey filly by Nando Parrado, the Coventry Stakes (Gr.2) winner and Royal Ascot juvenile record-breaker, from one of the best families in the Stud Book. The dam, Angel of Light (IRE), ran a few times at four and five and is the dam of Scatola Chiusa (IRE), a six-time winner in Italy to date. She is out of Riymaisa (IRE), who produced five winners, including the Listed-placed juvenile Unilit (IRE). The third dam is Riyafa (IRE), a Listed winner herself and dam of five winners, including: • Riyalma (IRE) – Listed winner at Newmarket. • Rubina (IRE) – Stakes-placed, dam of winners. • Riyazan (IRE)/Preciously (IRE) – Seven-time winner and Stakes-placed in Hong Kong. • This is also the family of Rajik (multiple Stakes winner), Ridaiyna, Ridaiyma and Prix de l’Opéra heroine Ridasiyna (FR), Champion Three-Year-Old Filly in Europe 2012. A filly with a strong physical presence and a pedigree full of black type performers across Europe and Hong Kong. Bay Colt (Too Darn Hot – Fly,
by Pastoral Pursuits)

Too Darn Hot has made a strong start at stud. His top performers include Fallen Angel, winner of the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes, and Darnation, who took the Group 2 May Hill Stakes. Arabian Crown also impressed in the Group 3 Zetland Stakes.d).

The dam, Fly (GB), was a winner at three and has produced Parachute (Sea The Stars), a three-time winner. The second dam, Hannda (IRE), has a strong record of producing elite performers, including:
• Seal of Approval (Authorized) – Winner of the Group 1 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes.
• Hurricane Lane (Frankel) – European Champion Three-Year-Old Colt in 2021, with victories in the Irish Derby (Gr.1), St Leger (Gr.1), and Grand Prix de Paris (Gr.1), and a third-place finish in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr.1).

By Palace Pier, the five-time Group 1-winning miler by Kingman, whose victories include the St James’s Palace Stakes, Prix Jacques le Marois (twice), Lockinge Stakes, and Queen Anne Stakes. His first crop is highly anticipated by industry experts.

The dam, Gabrielle (FR), was a winner at three in France and has already produced two winners. The second dam, Larceny (IRE), produced:
• The Black Princess (Ifraaj) – Winner of the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks and multiple Gr.3 victories in France.

The dam, Just So (IRE), is by Galileo, adding depth to this filly’s pedigree. The second dam, Magic Tree (UAE), produced:
• Mukhadram (Shamardal) – Winner of the Group 1 Eclipse Stakes and multiple Gr.1 placings, including the Prince of Wales’s Stakes and Dubai World Cup.
